Religious freedom is under pressure here in Australia. It used to be uncontroversial, but now it’s heavily contested. Many people see it as little more than a licence for bigotry and hate.

The previous Morrison government entered Parliament in 2019 promising a Religious Discrimination Bill that would protect the Religious Freedom of all Australians. You might have heard about that Religious Discrimination Bill being put forward in Parliament earlier this year by the Morrison government. But they withdrew it before it went to the Senate.

And so what happened? What’s the state of Religious Freedom in Australia at the moment? And what can be done to improve it?
