God’s Promises Still Require Our Participation

By: Sabrina Peters

God’s promises are not isolated or independent from us, but actually very much intertwined with us.

I feel like so often I miss ‘my part’ and try and focus on only what God can do….and sometimes even forget that I have a part to play at all! Let me give you a few a visual examples.

matthew 11:28. his promise - you will find rest, our part - to come to him. james 5:16. his promise - you will be healed, our part - to confess to one another

matthew 6:14. his promise - you will be forgiven, our part - to forgive others. jeremiah 29:13. his promise - that he would be found, our part - to seek him wholeheartedlymalachi 3:10. his promise - you will be blessed. our part - to bring the tithe. isaiah 40:31. his promise - you will receive strength, our part - to wait on the lordSo, remember this faith journey is a joint venture and one that requires your participation as much as it does God’s!
